About I Like Your Flower
Hi! I’m Dave, the guy behind I Like Your Flower and the inventor of the earFlower clip. A long time ago, I was in a touring band. Touring can be boring… we show up 8 hours early and have nothing to do aside from walking around the city streets. I found myself occasionally picking a flower from the flower pots you will find in most cities and putting it on my ear. But invariably by the time I got on stage, they always fell off. I thought to myself, I’m an engineer, I should design and make something to hold the flower on my ear. So I did. The early prototypes were pretty awful, but iteration after iteration it became better. Once I had a reasonably good design, I set to work to build jigs that made making them easier and more uniform. Now, it is PERFECT. Since then I had always intended to make them for more than just me, and sell them. I bought the ilikeyourflower domain… and sat on it for 15 years. I’m not sitting on it anymore. About the earFlower clip
This is the earFlower clip! It is a very well designed, elegant and easy to use clip that allows you to wear a fresh, real flower on your ear (you could of course use a plastic flower, but why?). It is comfortable to wear, so comfortable that I find myself constantly checking to make sure it didn’t fall off. It barely ever falls off. I have lost two of them due to real world conditions – one to a tree branch while mowing the lawn (it got run over by the mower), and one from opening my car window on a terribly gusty day. It is robust – I fix appliances, and I have worn one every single day for 15 years. I have only broken two of them after wearing them every day for over a year – it is a delicate piece of wire after all, but they are designed to last even in the harshest of conditions. It is also quite beautiful in my opinion. Classy curves, and it resembles a heart shape.
Yes, the earFlower clip is literally just a piece of wire that holds a flower. But that is not what I’m selling. What I’m truly selling – is the smiles you will see on peoples faces when you go out into the world wearing a flower. The joy you bring to others will certainly bring joy into your life. And – I can nearly promise that if you wear one of these on a fairly regular basis – someone will absolutely say to you “I like your flower.” I hear it at minimum two to three times a week, and it always comes with a smile that puts a smile on my face as well. Quite a few times while driving I have had people shout “I like your flower!” out of their car window at me. There are variations – I have heard “I love your flower” for certain, and my all time favorite was “I dig your daisy!”
